I am already thinking of the 24 to 30 hours of endurance photography I will shoot here in a couple of days.  I also think of why these athletes ride 200 miles of gravel roads.  I think it is much the same for both of us.  Can I do it?  What is the best I can do with what I have in the time given?  I think it kind of relates to live, don’t you?

After seeing the faces of those that finish that appear fresh, I see the immediate tiredness as they move from the finish.  As those that finish with the soulless gaze of someone who has nearly broken but didn’t, I see the resolve that defines the human spirit.  I see the ability of humans to reach inside and find something that they did not think was there.

Wednesday Market 05-27-2015

As I work on getting equipment ready, sending emails, and coordinating other photographers for the upcoming Dirty Kanza 200, I took some time to run by the local Farmer’s Market.  I have been going there for years, and have developed friendships with many of the vendors.  I would say that boils everything down for a photographer and someone you are making a portrait with.  It is a relationship. Relate to them.  Talk to them. Make the feeling visual and then make an image.  Lexi was nice enough to let me get a great portrait of her as she was working.  I think it turned out excellent.

With Memorial Day coming along, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the families of our military men and women. They sacrifice first by knowing their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers are leaving them to go into harms way. Secondly, thank you to all of the military men and women who have chosen the sacrifice of putting God and Country over self and family. The mental scars oft outweigh the physical, but do not think that those who pay with their lives are diminished in honor or thought. God Bless!
