The rocky soil dug at everything that touched it. Dust from the prairie winds covered the sharp shards as they lay hidden. Waiting. Cuts nearly imperceivable, add together over time to render the toughest, useless. But they kept on. The struggle in the heat and humidity made each hill a triumph, only to reveal another hill had taken its place.
With the challenge, she had grown in its presence. She raised her head to share her beauty to all those that past.
