Robert Dippold experiences the meaning of self supported assist as he tries to repair his bike after a derailed explodes on him. Pipe cleaners, tall grass from the ditch, and the supply help of passing bikers help him through. Robert said that he was going to make it in no matter what… pushing, walking, one-leggin’-it! I later saw him at the finish and he said he had to one leg it most of the rest of the way in. I asked if he would be back next year… his answer was “Oh yeah!”
